8. Princess Bride

Hands down the best children's movie out there in my book. As a child who knew nothing about fine cinema this was a great start, you have no idea where it's gonna go. You might think it is a lord of the rings type movie full of sword fights and cool characters. Then you might think it is a goofy comedy, following the structure of Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Some elements might make you think that this is a fairy tale I.E Shrek. In the end this is a perfect mixture of all those themes which makes it a loved classic for the last 30 years. To demonstrate the magnitude of this hit, many critics refer to Princess Bride as the Wizard Of Oz of our time. It may come as a shock to many but this movie flopped in box office and only became popular via home theater.

Filmed in beautiful Ireland, this is a movie about love, politics, friendship and fun. This is at it's core a life story about a grandpa telling his grandson a story from a book. It starts off as a romance with the farmer falling in love with the farmboy. One day the lover of this girl's life vanishes during a pirate raid. She continues to live a depressed life without her one true love. The wheels are all set in motion when one day the girl is kidnapped by two bandits and is rescued by this mysterious figure. I loved this movie for it is great that the content is not to aggressive in grabbing your attention. It is all pretty relaxed and come in very naturally. The comedy fits in nicely as it is a good combination of goofy and mature comedy. No matter how many times you watch it you will be constantly charmed by The Princess Bride themes and wits. It is a fun ride which I would always like to repeat.
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You have disliked my blog. Prepare to die.
Loved what you wrote at end Inigo Montoya is hands down the best character in the movie. This was one of my favorite movies I’ve watched as a child. My dad introduced me to the world of film; because he was a film director and I was hooked ever since. You have great taste in movie genres! Good work.
