9. The Matrix

9. The Matrix

This may be the biggest surprise as a movie on this list. In 1999 people had no idea what they were getting into. From the trailer, all you see is scenes from what looks like a c-list action movies. 3 hours later and everyone left the theater saying one word. "whoa" It is sometimes viewed as the movie that no one understands but everybody loves, but if you have the brain function to understand this masterpiece, you are in for a ride. I love this movie and applause it for his complexity. Not only did this movie go ham at the box office but it launched Canadian actor Keannu Reeves into an upwards spiral which spawned a ton of great pictures on the directing and acting end.

This movie will take you on a roller coaster of time travel, gun fights and kung fu. "The Matrix" did not bore me. You will not be able to stop thinking of the road this movie will bring you on. There may be only one conclusion in the movie, but there are countless more possibility you will be thinking of. The world created in this movie complements the story for it is very simple but at the same time elegant and beautiful. The now extremely famous concept slow-mo was mostly brought to the main stream market, because of this movie`s advancements in visual effects, many more related titles were able to be released I.E Kick A** and Inception. What keeps this movie from being higher on the list is it`s characters. Other than Neo and Metamorphosis I found no reason to care for the other members of crew. Even when some key characters got killed off, I could not find the motivation to even think about them. This is just a small blemish on what is rather great movie.

10. Top Gun

10. Top Gun

This is this first movie on my blog and it is possibly the bro movie to ever be created. It is very far for me as a person to not include this movie filled with airplanes, cool characters and a soundtrack that is in every scene. Tom Cruise managed to provide a solid performance as the main cool guy Mavrick. He is supported by a strong supporting cast including Val Kilmer, Kelly Mcgillis, Anthony Edwards and Tom Skerrit. This feel good movie  has so many great factors including an upbeat vibe, always something to keep your eyes glued on but it's watching these people being courageous and having overall fun. This movie represents how important the core essences of being human which are friendship, family and sacrifice for the greater good. No matter  the cheesiness, the essentials of this movie are still amazing and a it gives people of all ages a good lesson and a good time.

To give an idea of what this movie involves, it is about Mavrick, a hot shot air force pilot who likes to put it all on the line, Tom Cruise portrayal will keep you on edge, you will be scared with with every move he makes wondering if he will make it to the next scene.Tagging along with Maverick, is a character that is extremely likable
and will have a place in your heart. His name was Goose. He unlike his co-pilot has a family and has a lot more to lose which creates a deep dynamic. These two pilots are sent to an elite fighter jet training center, this place is called Top Gun. Even if all the students are on the same side, they all want to be top dog. This competition creates a cheesy 80s rivalry which is very bad and good all at the same time, and to add to the equation the instructor is Tom Cruise's love interest who might not feel the same way about the short actor.
